Kirtland Kitchen/Dining Room Remodel & Renovated Wrap-Around Porch
Chris & Lindsey had been dealing with a cramped and outdated kitchen since they purchased their older home many years ago, it lacked sufficient storage space, and they wanted a larger space for dining family during holidays and special events. Since they already had a newer family room at the rear of their home, it provided us an opportunity to transform their rarely used living room adjacent to the kitchen into their new spacious dining room. This allowed us to place a smaller table in the kitchen and gain more cabinet/countertop space in their rectangular shaped kitchen, a win-win situation for sure. We also renovated their wrap-around front porch by installing treated decking. support posts and railings, as well as a much larger side area with steps next to the rear family room.

Our client liked to entertain family and friends during the holidays and special events, and her home just wasn’t able to provide enough “open space” to accommodate all of the guests in a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere. So, we set out to remove as many walls as possible to make the kitchen, dining room, living room and family room larger; including adding a much-needed large island as the centerpiece. Removing most of the walls around those spaces was a great challenge, as all walls were load-bearing structural walls. Once we were able to accommodate the structural needs, we focused our attention on the design and finish details that certainly made a huge difference in the overall feel and flow of all rooms.

Chagrin Falls House Renovation
This home suffered through a burst water line in the second floor master bath on Christmas Eve, which destroyed the master bath/bed area, the kitchen, laundry and half below the master bath was also destroyed, as well as the finished basement (rec area) suffered extensive damage. We completely rebuilt this home from top to bottom, adding in some custom details, as well as remodeling some other areas of the home that weren’t damaged, like the kids bath and bedrooms. We completed the whole project in a short few months, as we wanted to get them back into their home as soon as possible.

During our typical discovery portion of the design phase, we came to the conclusion to expand the kitchen into the adjacent dining room, as that space was under utilized most of the time. So, we removed a non-load bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room and added a large island that has plenty of space to gather around to entertain family and friends.

Our newlywed clients wanted to open up the kitchen and expand it into the existing first floor living spaces, rearranging rooms to make everything work; the goal was accomplished. We were able to expand and remodel the kitchen into the adjoining dining room, and move the dining room into the living room, which takes advantage of the dining room table being near the fireplace; a beautiful setting to be sure. Our clients are overjoyed with the outcome for their home.
