Even though Jeff & Dolores had an existing family room towards the back of their home, and a enclosed patio next to the family room, those combined areas didn’t provide enough room for family members to use each space for separate entertainment or quite relaxation. Plus, they wanted the new family room to be larger than the existing family room, with a higher ceiling and an abundant amount of windows to capture views of their park-like backyard. Mission accomplished! Heating and cooling can be tricky at times when building an addition far away from the homes existing heating/cooling system, but that issue was easily resolved by installing a separate heat/cool mini-split unit, that is very quiet and provides ample comfort for their new room. All in all, our clients love their new room, and can’t wait to put up a large Christmas tree in the new family room this year.
Here are some of the products that we installed: LG KSSAL181A R32 Single Zone heat cool unit, Heritage Cream 5″ double lap siding (our clients chose a different color siding for the addition, as they want to eventually change the siding on the rest of their home to this new color), Cascade Summit luxury vinyl flooring in color of Beacon, Andersen 400 Series casement windows (including two new awning windows in the existing family room), Andersen A Series exterior full glass patio door with Andersen Black Albany keyed-alike hardware, double sliding solid core barn doors with black door hardware kit and pull handles, poplar railings for each side of the landing adjacent to the sliding barn doors, and paint grade 4 1/14 beaded base trim, shoe molding and modern casings.
